Alwood Wetland on Elmira Road, just off Cook Ave. With the trees yet to leaf out, this is a gray and almost dismal area.

Later, with trees in full leaf, the area is very lush.

Tarboo Creek, along Dabob Road near Quilcine, WA, has been re-meandered to undo channelization and return it to a wild state. These photos were taken a year after the stream was rerouted and at a dedication and celebration by the Northwest Watershed Institute and the Jefferson Land Trust.

Identifying Mountains

I would appreciate any identification of the mountains and islands in these photos. All photos are taken from the NW corner of the city of Port Townsend, looking North at the San Juan Islands. A few times a year, I see snow-covered peaks on the northern horizon. I'd like to find out what mountains these are.

Contrast and other settings have been exaggerated to make the distant mountains more clear.

Views from Mt. Walker

Mt. Walker is the only peak facing Puget Sound that has a road to its summit. The road to the viewpoint begins five miles south of Quilcene on U S Highway 101. Mount Walker's summit is at 2,804 feet.
